Frequently asked questions
Does the pitch stay the same?
No — like a tape recorder, speed changes affect pitch too (slower = deeper, faster = higher). The tools available in browsers don't support pitch-preserving speed change.
What speeds are useful?
0.5x–0.75x is great for transcribing or learning a language, 1.5x–2x for skimming podcasts, and 0.25x for very fast or complex audio.
Is the output quality reduced?
The WAV output is lossless PCM. The re-sampling itself can soften very extreme speed changes slightly, but typical use (0.5x–2x) is excellent.
Can I speed up only part of a file?
